The full groom includes a warm bath using only top quality products, ensuring your dogs coat and skin has a thorough deep clean and is left feeling silky smooth. The coat is gently blow dried and brushed through before grooming. The style of groom is discussed and agreed on arrival whether that being either a breed standard cut, clip off or any style specific to your needs. The ears are cleaned or plucked depending on the breed and if required the nails are clipped. A spray of coat gloss and spritz is the finishing touch and leaves your dog feeling his/her absolute best. I may even take a few snaps of us playing and relaxing while we wait for you to return.
The bath and brush service or bath and blow dry I like to also call it, is simply that, a deep cleansing wash and rinse which is carried out always at least twice, the reason being, the first wash raises the dirt to the surface and the second rinses it away. More often than not I’m required to repeat several times until I feel the dog is squeaky clean. I only ever use top quality shampoos and a gentle, tearless wash for the sensitive face area. The shampoos leave the coats feeling super clean, shiny and feeling and smelling fabulous. Some coats often benefit from a little extra conditioning treatment which although is expensive for me to buy can be added on to the price for only a little extra (see spa packages)
Hand stripping is a technique used to remove dead hair on either silky breeds such as cocker spaniels and wirey breeds such as border terriers. It’s a method of grooming which rather than using clippers, the hair is stripped out by hand or using stripping tools. Handstripping can only be done correctly when the hair is ‘ready’ to be stripped, and if the dogs coat is suitable for stripping, for more in depth information on this, please ask.
The De-Shedding treatment is for dogs who cast a lot of hair, mostly double coated dogs such as the Golden Retriever, German Shepherd, Husky/Malamute etc and smooth coated dogs such as the Labrador, Bulldog, Rottweiler etc. This treatment involves the same process as the Bath & Brush but also includes a nail clip and ear clean. Once the dogs coat is fully clean I then apply ‘furminator’ Shampoo, this cleans the coat further but also starts to loosen the dead/shedding hair. Once rinsed, I then apply the ‘Furminator’ De-Shedding & Conditioning Cream all over the dogs body and massage deep into the fur, not only does it help to rid the dogs coat of all the loose undercoat, its leaves it looking brighter, healthier and smelling amazing. The results really are phenomenal.
The puppy groom is essential to allow your puppy to build trust and confidence with me and to help them be at ease with the grooming procedure. You will drop your puppy off with me and the groom usually takes around an hour maybe slightly longer for larger fluffier breeds. Once I’ve fully rinsed away all the soap, your puppy is wrapped in a warm towel from the tumble drier and cuddle dried a little while I turn on the dryer in the background, this allows your pup to get used to the noise without being frightened, this way I can introduce drying very gently. The first nail clip is also done while I have the drier on, I sit on a chair with the puppy on my knee, I find most puppies enjoy lying on their back with a belly rub in the warm air and they're so relaxed that me trimming their nails doesn’t worry them one bit!. At every stage I’m assessing your puppy’s reaction to all the new things, this is how I gauge how much I do in the first appointment, I usually find that most puppies react well, especially the younger ones, and I can proceed to the trimming. (Depending on the breed of course). The only trimming necessary for puppies is around the feet, the pads, the eye area and the bottom, this keeps them nice and neat and gives them a small introduction to standing on a grooming table. The puppy’s coat is very soft (like baby hair) and wont change to adult coat until between 6 & 9 months in most breeds. Around 6 months is when the first full groom would take place, maybe slightly sooner if owners are struggling to maintain the coat or if its super long and fluffy. Ideally the first puppy groom is just after the pups final set of vaccinations and the vet has given the all clear to be out socialising.
NAIL CLIPPING Nail clipping is usually a maximum of a 10 minute appointment. Walk ins are welcome, however its probably best to ring ahead to ensure I have availability.

My dream of owning my own Dog Grooming salon finally came true in October 2019 but I’ve been grooming dogs since 2011. I started off my grooming career as a professional show-groom for an international show-jumper, it was here that I learned of my passion for grooming, in this instance top class showjumpers. My thirst for high standards, attention to detail and caring for animals soon developed to dog grooming. I have always aspired to be the best I can be in anything I do and I’m always looking to improve and develop my skills. After many years of training and gaining valuable experience as a Salon Manager at the Groom Room inside Pets at Home, I attained the City & Guilds, level 3 Diploma at Look North Grooming & Training Centre, Keighley. I enjoy grooming all breeds of dog from puppies to the golden oldies. I love the satisfaction of turning a cute ball of over grown fluff into a breed standard trim as much as I love some cross-breed styling and teddy cuts, or giving a puppy his or her first haircut. I simply love my job, I feel extremely lucky to be doing something that I love and that I’m so passionate about, in one of the loveliest, happiest salons I’ve ever been in. I can’t wait to welcome you here and meet you and your dog. Lisa
